What to send for an interstate freight quote
- Addresses and contacts: both street addresses, postcodes, site contacts and opening hours.
- Freight details: item count, packed dimensions and weight, contents, stackability and any special handling needs.
- Access and timing: loading docks or forklifts at each end, any tail-lift requirement, collection date and requested delivery timing.
Supply the collection and delivery addresses, packed dimensions and weight, freight type, site access and requested timing. Drop-X then plans the dedicated express run: the Hume corridor for Sydney, the Western and Dukes corridors for Adelaide, or the Hume and Barton corridors for Canberra. The pickup time and delivery estimate are confirmed for the individual quote. One Drop-X dispatcher remains the booking contact.
For palletised freight, advise whether each site has a usable dock or forklift. Tail-lift and pallet-jack requirements are assessed against the weight, dimensions and safe vehicle access. Oversized and non-stackable freight requires a specific equipment and route review before availability or pricing can be confirmed.

Every interstate consignment runs as a dedicated express road job. It is collected from your pickup address and taken to the delivery address without being backloaded or combined with other people’s freight. Documents, cartons, standard pallets and assessed oversized freight are all handled this way. Interstate work is separately quoted; a local or metro rate should not be treated as an interstate price.
The corridor, pickup time, exact addresses, freight size and weight, driver rest breaks and vehicle availability set the delivery estimate. Timing is confirmed for the individual quote, and no narrow delivery window should be assumed.

Drop-X confirms the pickup time and delivery estimate with the separate interstate quote, based on the route, exact addresses, freight details, driver rest breaks and vehicle availability.
Is interstate freight backloaded with other people's freight?
No. Drop-X runs interstate freight as dedicated express jobs: the vehicle carries your consignment, and it is not backloaded or combined with other people's freight. The vehicle and timing are confirmed with the quote.
Do you carry pallets and oversize freight interstate?
Drop-X can assess small boxed items, documents, cartons, standard pallets and some oversized freight. Packed dimensions, weight, stackability, site access and any tail-lift or pallet-jack need must be supplied for the quote.
How is interstate freight priced?
Drop-X quotes interstate freight separately per consignment. Packed weight and dimensions, exact addresses, access, timing, handling equipment and freight characteristics affect the quote. Request a quote online or call 1300 973 038.
Do the published Melbourne courier rates apply to interstate freight?
No. The Drop-X local courier rate card and Victorian next-day pre-booking offers do not establish an interstate price. Interstate consignments need a separate quote based on the route, freight, access, equipment and requested timing.
Can my business arrange freight without being based in Melbourne?
Yes. A business based elsewhere in Australia can ask Drop-X to move freight on the listed Melbourne–Sydney, Melbourne–Adelaide or Melbourne–Canberra routes, in either direction. Supply the actual pickup and delivery addresses and site contacts. Your business location does not extend the delivery coverage.
