How regional pricing works

Regional runs are priced using the base item rate plus a per-kilometre charge for the road distance driven beyond the included allowance.

1

Base Rate

Every job starts with the base item rate: $35 for small items, $88 for Euro pallets, $110 for standard pallets, or $155 for oversized freight.

2

Included Distance

Small item bookings include the first 20 km of driving. Any booking with a pallet or oversized item includes the first 50 km.

3

Per-KM Charge

Distance beyond the included limit up to 100km is charged at $1.95/km. Kilometres driven beyond 100km are charged at $2.50/km.

Next-Day Regional Discount

Regional runs cost more because they dedicate a vehicle and driver to your freight for hours. But if your delivery isn't urgent, book it as a next-day service. We apply a 12% discount to the entire regional price.

Pay for the journey, not the zone

Freight pricing that follows the road — metro & regional Victoria

Every Drop-X job is priced on the actual journey: an item rate with road kilometres included, then a per-kilometre charge only for the distance beyond them. The further your freight travels, the more the distance component — and that’s the only thing that changes. Most metro jobs never reach the kilometre rate; regional Victoria runs are where it matters. No zone tables, no rounding up to the next bracket. All prices inc. GST, confirmed before pickup.

1

Item rate

The base fee, charged for every item booked: $35 small item, $88 European pallet, $110 standard pallet, $155 oversized. Metro or regional, every job starts here.

2

Included kilometres

Every booking includes road kilometres before any distance charge starts: 20 km when the booking is small items only, or 50 km when any pallet or oversized item is on board. If the whole job fits inside the included kilometres — as most metro deliveries do — the item rate is the whole price.

3

Kilometre rate

Once a job runs beyond its included kilometres — metro or regional — the distance beyond them is charged at $1.95 per km of road driving. On runs past 100 km, only the kilometres beyond 100 are charged at $2.50 — the first 100 stay at the lower rate, so there's never a price jump.

Common questions about regional pricing

How is regional Victoria pricing calculated?

Regional pricing is based on the item rate plus a per-kilometre distance charge. Every job includes an initial driving allowance (20 km for small items, 50 km for pallets and oversized). Distances between the included limit and 100 km are charged at $1.95/km, and any distance beyond 100 km is charged at $2.50/km.

What is the 12% next-day discount?

If your regional delivery is not urgent, booking it as a next-day service will take 12% off the total regional price (including both the base item rate and the per-kilometre charges).

Are there zone boundaries that jump the price?

No. Unlike zone-based rate cards where one extra kilometre can throw you into a much more expensive bracket, our per-kilometre pricing means you pay exactly for the road distance driven. One extra kilometre costs exactly one kilometre.

Is there a fuel levy added to long regional runs?

No. Long regional runs burn significant fuel, but Drop-X factors that into the upfront per-kilometre rate. We never add a fuel levy at checkout or on your invoice.

Do you deliver interstate?

Yes, but interstate freight is priced separately and quoted on a per-job basis. Contact our dispatch team for an interstate quote.
